This provides improved assessments and timely advisories during hurricanes, with the goal of reducing risks to people and infrastructure in flood-prone urban areas.

  • UA’s Enhancing Coastal Transportation Infrastructure Resilience to Compound Flood Impacts project, in close collaboration with the Alabama Department of Transportation and the City of Mobile, develop a multi-hazard probabilistic vulnerability assessment model for the Mobile Bay region. This model has a specific emphasis on maintaining accessibility to critical infrastructure during hurricanes and ensuring that emergency response and recovery operations can function effectively.

They engaged in hands-on research guided by faculty mentors from the Styslinger College of Engineering to help them learn about engineering and translate those experiences back to their classrooms.

  • In partnership with the Tuscaloosa City Schools, students in every PreK classroom were provided a free health screening by UA’s Capstone College of Nursing.
